Queen's Landing - Catawba Queen Sightseeing and Lunch Lake Norman Cruises

If you are new to the area or you have been here but haven't been able to get on the Lake, then this is the event for you. Daily cruises and sightseeing tours with lunch are offered by The Catawba Queen in Mooresville, NC. Click here for full information, ticket prices, and times.

I've been on this cruise a couple times and it's really fun. I learned new things both times. The captain narrates and navigates the catawba river chain (lake norman) and you get to see a ton of shoreline. The lunch is pretty decent (2 hot dogs plate) but your drink, sodas, etc. is cash bar. The ticket is $12.50 for adult for just the tour or $19.50 for tour and lunch. I try to get all newcomers to the area to do this tour because it shows you just how big Lake Norman really is!

We'll meetup here and have some drinks and socialize while enjoying the excellent service. Alton's will be putting out a wonderful spread of appetizers and cheese for us to taste and they have an excellent menu for dinner as well. Click here for menu

We will be mingling in the bar area that holds more than 100 people. They have an excellent cozy, fine dining atmosphere and often host wine dinners as well. Come check it out with us! This is not a wine tasting, just a casual meetup with each member being responsible for their own tab.

Alton's Kitchen and Cocktails is a new restaurant in Cornelius that opened in February in the former Charleston Chops and Mia Famiglia space, in the Jetton Village III retail center.

Alton's features such offerings as Tuna Poke with Avocado, Traditional Maine Lobster Roll, BBQ Shrimp and Cast Iron Beef Medallions. They also have a Happy hour special daily called "The Peninsula Special" from 4pm-6pm that is a 3-course meal! I've tried the Filet mignon and twice baked potato and I highly recommend both! Delicious. Wednesday they have a 1.5lb Lobster dinner special too!

Entrées cost $9 to $23, with $6.50 house specialty martinis, a selection of wines by the glass or bottle and bottled and draft beers from around the world.

A small-plate menu will be available for bar patrons.

see more info on www.lknwinegroup.com -- Come out on a Thursday evening and enjoy one of Lake Norman’s newest wine bars, The Wine Cellar, in Cornelius. This cozy wine bar opened late 2009 and has a great atmosphere and an excellent variety of wines from all over the world.

Four wines will be served for $6 plus tax and tip! This is a great deal! Bottles of wine from the tasting will be made available for purchase, in the $15-$25 range. They also have a light fare menu available if you are hungry! Please pay your fee at the bar when you arrive to get your glass!

Wow! this is one of the coolest events EVER!!! I spoke with the management at Havana Banquet & Ballroom, and they would love to host our Lake Norman Wine Club! They want to provide some wine, fun, and entertainment --including a professional DANCE performance! RSVP at  www.lknwinegroup.com 

We are calling it a "Salsa Dance and Wine Social". You will get to drink Latin wines and learn some Latin dances if you want. We will also be doing other styles of dances that night.

There will not be a tasting but Havana will feature 5 Latin American wines at $5 a glass (mixes of whites and reds). They will also provide some cheese and crackers for snacking! And for the entertainment..........

We will be having a "free" group dance class that begins at 8:30pm and we will ALSO have a professional performance by the resident dancers at 10:00. BUT, Don't feel like you have to participate in the free group lesson! Just come and watch and be entertained! I am going to have a ton of fun with this!

Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Norman - April 18th, 2009

The Sherrill's Ford Rotary club will be hosting a Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Norman on April 18th!

Last year they gave out over $4,500 in gifts and prizes and raised $8,000 for the Catawba Middle School playground!

The play opens March 19th with a cast of over 100 people! Kelly Dowell is producer and Virginia Wagner is musical director. The high School is located in Mooresville, NC in Iredell County. play lake norman

I am getting a special preview with my fellow ESL teacher, Dorothy Hensley to go to the last dress rehearsal on March 18th!

*** These teenagers are SO talented! Let me tell you, it's scary! The show is extremely entertaining as well.
