I woke up to a blanket of snow on the ground this morning. Icy Roads. Snow covered boats and 20 degree weather. But.....It's SUNNY!

We never usually get much snow and I am sure it will melt in a couple days. The trucks are out salting the roads and most people went to work. The Charlotte and Lake Norman area schools closed, so a minor nuisance to some people.

  THE LAKE NORMAN WINE ENTHUSIAST CLUB 

We had a meeting of over 80 people on Friday, January 23rd at The Wine Loft Mooresville and it was SO FUN!

Go to the website to see the reviews of the meetup. We ran out of wine and food and patrons stayed until 2am! Mooresville Rocks!

I highly recommend the Wine Loft for a glass or a wonderful cocktail evening.

  I know it's Fattening!

But it's soooooo good! I eat it about 2 times a month. I have to eat half at lunch and the other half at dinner or the next day. But yes, after a good workout, I have eaten the WHOLE thing!

McAlister's Deli of Cornelius has this 2lb SpudMax potato and I just ate one today for lunch and dinner. It has ham, turkey, cheeses, onions, black olives, "lite" sour cream (ha), butter, and BACON. How about that for an artery clogger? 

But it's soooooo good! It's an occasional treat. It's about $7, but I figure that isn't too bad if it's split between two meals.

By the way, the soups, salads, and sandwiches (especially the French dip) are scrumptious as well. But I mostly go there when I want a SpudMax. Wouldn't you?

So, if you are wanting a great place to workout, swim, basketball, racquetball, running, outdoor track, and more, then sign up today! Most days they are open at 5am, so even better if you wanna work out early.

The fees are lower for senior citizens and they also have a heated pool inside in the Mooresville location. 

I signed up for the circuit training program when I was a member last year and it really makes you accountableto go and complete your workouts. You sign in through a touch-screen computer after the trainers do an overall assesment and sign you in.

Also, if you are interested in more outdoor activities, they have flag football, soccer, and other leagues that meet after work and on weekends. 

The outdoor track is level and peaceful for running. If it's raining, they have an indoor track too. You can change the scenery up by turning around and going the opposite direction!

Are you looking for something different in a grocery or whole foods market? Are you tired of the same old stores? Then look no further! FRESH MARKET IS NOW OPEN! YAY!

 It's been open for a couple months now! I was so happy to hear about this store coming to the area. We had already lost Dean & Deluca's a couple years ago and I could only go to the Fresh Market when I wanted to drive to the Strawberry Hill location in Charlotte (which was once a year maybe).

 

I've had a chance to shop there a couple times and the prepared foods are as wonderful as I remembered! Fresh herbs, organic veggies, exquisite coffees, natural peanut butter, granolas, baked goodies, and butcher style meats are just some of the things that this store offers!

You must check it out for yourself. It's located off of Exit 28 on I-77 on Catawba Avenue and Torrence Chapel Road. I haven't been able to find another type of store like it to compare to. I just know that it's "FRESH" food. A little pricey but worth a try. They even make dinners to go.

Want Friendly Staff and Inexpensive Gym Fees? Do you like it cool and clean when you work out? Then go to Peak!

This is one of the least expensive gyms in the area, and if you are looking for a gym just for machines, classes, and cardio, then this is the right place to join. I loved the YMCA when I was a member there, but the $65 a month I was paying was over twice as much as I am paying now (for my Peak membership) and I never used the YMCA pool, racquet, or basketball facilities.

There are actually 13 Peak Fitness locations in the Charlotte Region, but the one that I usually frequent is in Cornelius, NC.

Guess what? You can also visit their website and print a coupon for a free day pass to try it out.

My Review:  The cardio facilities are very impressive with 2 rows of treadmills, 2 rows of stationary bikes, a huge weight training floor, and very nice restroom and shower facilities. I usually run on the treadmill and plug my headphones in to watch CNN or Fox News on the TV during my morning workout sessions. I like this gym during the off-peak hours because it's quiet and there are plenty of machines that are open, but if you go at peak hours in the morning or evening, expect to have a little wait times for some machines. What's nice is that there are almost 2 or 3 of each weight machine group, so you don't have too wait too long.

Admiral's Quarter is a condo community with views of Lake Norman, located in Cornelius, NC.

Admiral's Quarter's boasts a boat storage facility, walking distance to lake norman, a really active pool, a modern and open layout (inside), tennis courts, easy access to lake norman, and close proximity to shopping!
