Attention Thrill Seekers!
Yes, that's right folks! A new roller coaster will be built at Carowind's theme park in Charlotte, NC to honor the late NASCAR legend, Dale Earnhardt.
If you remember, he died a few years ago in a NASCAR race, but he was a hugely popular racing personality throughout the nation. His home was located in Mooresville, just about 30 miles North of Charlotte.
The new roller coaster will be the tallest and fastest coaster in the Southeast and will cost over $23 million to complete, according to Charlotte Business Journal.

What's the new name of the coaster? The Intimidator!! Of course! (Dale's nickname) So, I take it that this ride will surely "intimidate the heck outta you"!! Those are always the most fun, aren't they?
So, lookout Charlotte, because thrill seekers will probably line up in the thousands to ride this new toy when it opens in the Spring of 2010.
I'm always looking for new, fun things to do in the Charlotte area and going to Carowinds has always been a good time. During Halloween, they even dress up the theme park and call it Scarowinds at night. It's a blast and rated for older children and adults.

Hi Sandy. I'm not a roller coaster fan, but my kids are and we are all Dale Earnhardt fans! My daughter has a cheer competition at Carowinds coming up, maybe it will be ready then.
What a great way to honor Dale Earnhardt!
It's so cool that North Carolina gets to hold yet another record, this time with the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the Southeast!
We live in such a great place.
Oh man...I have some friends that get together every summer and travel to some new location to ride one or more of these things...Yeah even now they are still looking for that RUSH! I am going to forward this to them so that they can add it to the list!
Sounds like an awesome ride. I hope I can come down your way some time and take the ride.
